How to get your trucking company recommended by ChatGPT — the 7-step checklist

AI names 2–3 businesses per answer. Here's exactly what makes a carrier, dispatcher, or broker one of them — in priority order.

First: know your starting point

Before fixing anything, see what AI says about your category today. Run a free AI visibility check (15 seconds, no signup): enter your company name and what buyers search for (e.g. truck dispatch service). You'll see your AI Visibility Score and who AI currently names instead of you.

The 7-step GEO checklist for trucking

  1. Get a crawlable website — not just Facebook. AI can't read most of Facebook. You need a real site that loads fast and states in plain text: what you haul, your lanes, your equipment, your home base, your MC/DOT number.
  2. Make your identity consistent everywhere. Your company name, phone, and city must match across your FMCSA record, Google Business Profile, website, and directories. Mismatches make AI drop you as unverifiable.
  3. Write one page per buyer question. Shippers ask AI things like "best dispatch service for new owner-operators" and "reliable reefer carriers out of Atlanta". A page that directly answers one of those questions — in plain language, with your name on it — is what AI cites.
  4. Collect reviews that mention your specialty. "Great hotshot carrier, always on time out of Dallas" teaches AI what to recommend you for. Ask happy customers to name the service and lane.
  5. Get listed in third-party directories and roundups. AI leans on corroboration. Industry directories, load-board profiles, association memberships, local business listings — each one is a trust signal.
  6. Add structured data. Schema.org markup (LocalBusiness, FAQPage) on your site makes your facts machine-readable. It's a one-time job for whoever runs your website.
  7. Re-check monthly. AI answers shift as competitors improve. Re-run your visibility check after each fix to confirm movement.
